DC Trip

Quick trip to DC before Sunday's vote.  Had a few things to say.  And, coincidentally, ran into Mike and Austin at the Skate park.  Which technically doesn't allow skating.  I'm guessing the No Skateboarding rules only apply "as needed".

I have LOTS more pictures. It was a wonderful spring day in the Capital City, with the cherry blossoms anxious to bloom. Had to be 72 degrees, sunny, light breeze. I would have had LOTS more pictures still, but ran out of batteries on my camera (anybody seen my backup battery?)

Third Massive Snowfall?!

This was the first of the three massive snowfalls that didn't fall on a weekend.  We had to close work for a day, and some of our employees couldn't get in until Friday.

Second massive snowstorm

Alright, the last one was kind of fun, but this is getting ridiculous.  Shoveled the driveway twice before we went to bed, but when we got up, the snowfall was about 2x too tall for the snow blower.  Somehow we made it work.  Snow stopped about 4:30pm, and we had gotten just about caught up with it by that point.  I don't know how to get a good accurate measurement, but I'd believe 24 inches.

Burgers and Fries: Bobby's Burger Palace

We made a trip to NJ to Bobby's Burger Palace.  BBP is one of Bobby Flay's restaurants, and we've taken to using his approach to the 4-cheese cheeseburgers at home--always hits the spot.  Don't forget to crunchify your burger.

Fall Snow

I estimated that our snowfall, just days before winter began, came to 15 inches.  Light snow, easy to blow, good fun.

Charities of Choice 2009

With the Christmas season upon us, the topic of charities has come up on more than one occasion recently.  I thought I'd make note here of some of our favorite charities, we'd be delighted if you chose to support any of them in our honor.

Christopher supports a young man in the Dominican Republic through Compassion International.  Contributions would go to the organization itself, not the sponsored individual.
Compassion International
Colorado Springs, CO 80997

Corinne's preferred charity is the church she attends at school: LifeHouse ministries.
LIFEhouse Shenandoah
515 E. Wilson Boulevard
Hagerstown, MD 21740

Laura and I support
Samaritan's Purse
PO Box 3000
Boone, NC 28607-3000
John Hagee Ministries
Exodus 11
PO Box 1400
San Antonio, TX 78295
Coral Ridge Ministries
PO Box 1920
Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33302

Mom's favorite (she's not technically my household, I just wanted to share):
is the Amani Home for Street Children in Moshi, Tanzania.  Contributions can be made online through Peace House Foundation.  Peace House is a US based organization so contributions are tax deductible.

I also participate in Kiva, a microlending organization. I loan $25 at a time to working poor around the world. When they repay, I get my money back to lend again. The sponsor bank gets the interest. These are the people I have supported so far: My Kiva Lending Page.
